The
AIDS Community Residence Association (ACRA) is a nonprofit organization
founded in 1987.
The AIDS Community Residence Association and its three housing facilities are located in Durham, NC. ACRA accepts clients from throughout the United States and its territories. ACRA's services include the operation of Blevins House, a 24-hour care facility for people with AIDS; Fitts-Powell Apartments, a more independent setting that facilitates access to community resources; and Buchanan Place, the area's first scattered site housing for people with HIV/AIDS, which allows the most independence. Additionally, ACRA dispenses emergency rent and utility funds to people living with HIV/AIDS. We know that housing and case management is the least met need for people with HIV and AIDS. We are here to help you manage your condition and to help ensure that you enjoy a safe lifestyle. We do not concern ourselves with how you were infected. We are only concerned with your well being. We believe that independent living and support is just as therapeutic as the medical treatment you may be receiving from your doctor. We can help you manage your condition and provide safe and comfortable housing without infringing on your rights, beliefs or privacy. |
